"Make someone's week, every week"
Neara companions spend time with elderly people in Greater London who could do with more company. It's not care work - there are no medical tasks, no personal care, no clinical training required. What it is, is meaningful. A few hours a week visiting someone who genuinely looks forward to seeing you.
You'll be matched with one client and build a real relationship over time. After each visit, you write a short personal note about how the afternoon went and that note goes straight to their family, and it matters more than you might expect.
What the role involves
Regular in-home visits of two hours or more, once or twice a week. Conversation, shared activities, a walk to the shops, a cup of tea and an afternoon well spent. You work the hours that suit you and you're paid £15 per hour.
Who it suits
People who are warm, reliable, and genuinely interested in others. You don't need a background in care; you need to be someone who listens well, turns up when they say they will, and leaves people feeling better than when they arrived. Students, part-time workers, retirees, and career changers have all found it fits well alongside other commitments.
What Neara provides
An enhanced DBS check, a thorough onboarding process, ongoing support from the Neara team, and the tools to make every visit straightforward. You'll never be left to figure it out alone.
How to apply
Fill in a short expression of interest form; it takes up to five minutes. If you're a good fit, we'll invite you to a conversation with the team.
